There is probably a stamped warning on your bumper that says do not exceed 200 pounds tongue weight or 2000 pounds trailer weight. This is the upper limit for the weak bumper attachment brackets. When in doubt always spend the $100 for a frame mounted hitch.

just a note...make sure you check the actual tow rating for your vehicle - AS EQUIPPED! If you have a 3.0L (which I would believe is so, as your truck is a B3000), you are probably only rated for about 4500 pounds. I bought my ranger as a tow vehicle...sadly, I didn't do enough research and am stuck with a 3.0L, when I should have bought one with the 4.0L. Just a heads-up. I've seen too many accidents caused by too small of tow vehicle.
