Regarding this topic. Where do you get the test strips. Once you put the additive in how long should you run it before you can get true reading? Should i go ahead and add them both before testing or just one then test and see where it is? Thanks again.

I bought mine at the local NAPA store. I would drive it around for a day before testing.
For your engines sake, go and pour at least one of the bottles of additive before you even start your engine today. Without the SCA's in the coolant these engines have the ability to eat themselve alive with cavitation. Repair requires an entirely new engine block. BIG money.
I'm assuming your PSD requires the additive. I've heard the 6.0 doesn't. Probably something to do with the coolant they use.
You should check your additive level at least every 15,000 miles and add as necessary. I usually check mine twice a year.
If you are changing your coolant Prestone sells a precharged antifreeze -- It comes in a black bottle. May be hard to find. Diesel Injection Service has a website. They sell the test strips in packages of four for a reasonable price. No sense in buying more as they will go bad. They also sell the additive but if you can get it locally you won't be paying to ship liquid. I've seen it in my local Goodyear and of course you can get it from Ford.
2000 F450 PSD, Does that fall into the area tha a additive needs to be used?
If you have green coolant it needs the additive in it. On my 2000 I changed my green over to the gold and now don't have to worry about additivies any more.
