replacing thermostat on 2.3L
My Haynes manual says I can simply "remove the bolts and detach the housing cover" to access the thermostat. It doesn't even mention that the one visible bolt is inaccessable and the other (evidently) is hidden from view by the timing belt cover. Are there any extenders or special tools available so that I don't have to remove the timing belt cover (stripped screw)? Even when I can get the cover off, it still looks like it'll be awfully tight-like a couple hoses and whatnot still must be relocated to access-any advice out there?
Doesn't Ford realize that their thermostats are always going bad and they should put them somewhere easy, like the glovebox?
BTW, it's all good, because these experiences keep me from complaining too much when I get my mechanics' bills.
Thanks,
Andrew
