Just returned from getting my truck re-flashed. My truck is an 04/03. I had it flashed with the latest in July. I took it in today after hearing the rumor that there was a new flash out there. Well after the oil change they came back and said I have the latest flash. They said they would look at it a little more. An hour later he came in and told me that The boost checked out good at 24 PSI and Ford did have a new flash. They installed it. It took them a while to do it. So, it almost sounds like they have a new flash but dont want to give it out if they dont have too. Maybe because it takes about an hour of free warentee work.
Have the latest flash, engine noiser, no difference on fuel miliage, more dead peddle, romping on start up at times since this was done, also was told by dealer that if your truck is in shop and theres a flash out for it and you don't want it done there could be a warranty issue, anyone else been told this.

50jd...I have seen in other threads that if owner refuses flash some dealerships have at least tried to charge customers for work that would otherwise be covered under warranty...don't know the ultimate outcomes though.
I found the latest flash to be the opposite. The pedal is more responsive, especially at low rpm. Now that the weather is colder, I find the engine noisier when it is cold. Once it warms up it is same as before. Engine is more responsive on acceleration. Maybe you should take it in. Sounds like there is something else going on there or have them reflash it and put a battery charger on it when they do the reflash.
SBV45, what is the number they put on the sticker under the hood.
A dealer did mine last month and put the number for rc8, which I already had and said it now had the latest and greatest. Actually, I had the same---still no tow/haul
They haven't put a sticker under the hood since the first flash they did back in August 03. But, they did hand me a piece of paper with 3U7A-12A650-FTE. Which is the same as what they showed on the invoice. The flash I had previous to that, the Dec 03 flash was RC8 3U7A-12A650-FTC.

Thanks for the info on the levels
I was looking into what the latest flash suffix was
Cheers
So what happened to "D". I think I've had them all. The commercial service manager left at my dealership and when I walked in and saw a new woman.... I thought, great now they don't know me or my truck. Until 3 of the mechs walked in and started talking to me about the truck and I told them I had heard of a new flash and they confirmed and recommended it, then she got the whole history- my old truck, this one, all the little odds and ends/ all from the mechanics even, I didn't have to tell her anything. Hilarious. I'm going Monday since I have not heard alot of bad things about the new flash and maybe it will help the hesitation when shifting 1 to 2.
Update..... The truck is running better. Hard to explain, smoother, shifts better. Dont know about fuel mileage yet. Havent towed yet, but drives much smoother in Tow mode. Very happy so far. Last letters end in FTE
