Brake Fluid going going gone

Hello All,

I have a problem with my brake fluid leaking out of the rear right tire. Just wondering what would cause this and what I need to do to fix it. Or take it to have it fixed and not have them take me.

Thanks.

Bad (Brake) Wheel Cylinder.
Either the brake pads are so wore that the arms are being over extended,
There is some crud in the Cylinder which is letting fluid leak around rubber cups in the cylinder,
or they are just wore out.

I would do a compleate brake job on the rear. New Wheel Cylinders, new brakes, and have the drums turned. I don't how if their prices have gone up but when I had mine done, I had Les Schwab's do them.
The cost for the parts was the same as they would of cost me at the local parts store.
Plus I would of had to put them on myself. The labor was only like $40.00 that was for them putting the parts on, turning the hubs, and bleeding the brakes. It was cheaper to have them do it then me do it.
BUT you must do your homework first. I always call around and find out part prices first, then I go to a repair place and find out their prices, then get a broken down repair quote.
Hope this helps,
Jay

Definitely follow JTHill's advice: do a complete rear brake job, not just one side. If the fluid has escaped and made it to the tire, then it has contaminated your brake shoes.

Just fixed the same problem on my 92. Both new wheel cylinders and new brakes. Be sure and change out the spring kits, as they are cheap, and easier to change than clean after brake fluid and brake dust collect on them.

Most important, put in new self adjuster kits.. My adjuster arm had worn a place where it rubbed the thumb wheel, and the brake on that wheel would back off. My right rear would slide whenever I hit my brakes hard. Within a week after adjustment it would start over again. Now very good even braking.
