December Meeting

Okay....Let's plan on meeting on the 5th as it's early in the month and should not disrupt any holiday plans.

Location?......John gave me some good suggestions and I agree in more ways than one too.

We'll meet at the Cracker Barrel. The reason? we discussed the choices and this way those wanting to eat may do so and those who don't need not feel obligated. Also, the menu is wider than at Pizza Hut, etc.

The Location will be in Bourbonnais, the best routes to get there for us would be Cicero Ave./Route 50, OR I - 57 and use exit 315 to Cicero Ave./Route 50.

Using Cicero, once you enter town go through TWO stop lights. The mall will be on your LEFT. You will find yourself at Northfield mall now, the Cracker Barrel is behind the mall.

Using I - 57 to Cicero via exit 315 and take Cicero to the mall.

Bring your logo ideas and we can discuss long range meeting locations as well.

For our January meeting, would anyone care to meet at the "World of Wheels" in Chicago?

I would like to set up a rough list of towns/cities to hold 2005 meetings in and locations.

Thanks, Ron

Long Range plans

Another item I'd like to discuss is what long range plans we can think of or begin for 2005.

F.T.E. info sheet

We have site approval for the information/interest sheet! I'll be sure to make some more up and pass them out. You can photo copy them as required and be sure to include your name on the appropriate space. This way if they mention your name or present the sheet at a meeting the member gets credit for recruiting a new member.

Our chapter should have a moderator as well. I inquired about that and was informed the site is making changes and plans to address moderators in each chapter/forum.

Possible Family Matter

Ok..I may have a possible family matter to attend to on the 5th. There is the possibility I will be out of the area and not able to attend the meeting.

I would ask if I am unable to attend, that John conduct the meeting. I'm sure if needed , he'll do an great job with Carol and Bob's help.

If I am unable to attend I want to apologize to everyone in advance. Fastronald

Ron,
If you cannot make it to the meeting, I am willing to fill in and conduct the meeting for you. I'm sure I will not do as good of a job as leader as you do, but I'll give it a try! It won't be the same having a meeting without you there as our leader, but I'll do my best to try and conduct the meeting as best as I can. Let me know if I'll be needed to fill in, I'd be happy to help.
-John

January meeting

If there is not enough interest in the World of Wheels as a meeting site, would the Joliet area be okay? I'm trying to get an idea where to meet a bit early with the holidays......... and job interviews and testing I have.

The World of Wheels is on January the 28th through the 30th. The driving distance and cost to get in maybe more than some care to spend so close after Christmas.

I'll review some sites in the Joliet area soon. For February a meeting site NORTH is in the works. Weather permitting, a March meeting in Gilman.

Also, I have asked the area states on the site about a Midwest Meeting. The Iowa and Missouri chapters have responded. Indiana has yet to establish a chapter, though discussions of a joint Illinois/Indiana meeting have been discussed. ( see Midwest Meeting in the general chapter and Indiana chapter forum )

What do you think about a joint meeting this summer with area states? We could possibly make it a weekend event? Let me hear your thoughts on this.

I also asked the site about seeking a chapter sponsor. This could be a truck related business, repair shop, parts store, dealership, etc.

Have a great Thanksgiving, Fastronald

Meeting

Looks like we'll have the usual great weather for a chapter meeting once again.

This time, I'll remember to bring pics of my 61', 65' and 80' trucks.

I'll bring the Fox body axle shafts for Fairmontman as well.

Remember your Chapter logo ideas too.

We'll discuss old business and start a list of potential meeting sites for 2005, a joint meeting with either the Iowa/Missouri chapters or a joint meeting with the Indiana guys. ( see midwest meeting thread in Indiana chapter and general chapter forum )

We can discuss locating a "sponsor" for the chapter as well as locating a dealer/business to allow us to meet there, etc.

If you need directions or have questions contact JohnT or myself. John's knowledge of the area is much better than mine is. Me's "the Man" to ask.

Hope to see everyone there and some new faces as well. Ron

December Meeting

We had another successful meeting today.

We were able to enjoy not only John's newest truck, but Bob's brother's Ranger as well.

We discussed a wide range of topics and reviewed many suggestions.

We agreed with John's suggetion for a spring truck show/picnic locations. Kankakee River State Park or Starved Rock State Park. Both sites would be a good choice.

I must admit that Starved Rock in Ottawa would be a great site.

We discussed location sites for monthly meetings in detail.

One item we felt would be an asset for the Chapter in completing this task. We would ask for those wishing a meeting in their particular areas to attend two chapter meetings.

In this manner everyone can get to know each other and discuss suitable locations in their area of the state.

This would allow further long range planning for our meeting sites and select dates to be approved by the chapter members. The member knowledge of those areas would be key to a successful meeting.

At our January meeting we'll discuss in more detail for the show/picnic as well as a joint meeting with the Indiana members of F.T.E. The two locations we discussed were U.S. 41 Drag Strip and possibly Danville, Illinois just off the Ill/Ind. border.

Further planning between the Illinois Chapter and Indiana members will be required to make final location selections and dates.

Thanks to all who attended .......have a safe and Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year! Fastronald
