Help with Choke Thermostat
Hey, I had a problem with my Choke thermostat on my 86 4.9L . It was bad, tried going the cheap route by installing a manual choke, problem was once installed the air cleaner didn't fit. I don't mind putting another choke thermostat on but almost choked after some of the prices. Nobody has a used one in a junk yard since they have crushed everthing up to 95 in my neck of the woods. Any suggestions about the air cleaner or a good site to find a used thermostat, The tag on my carb says it is an E5TE BA. Help!!!!!

Sorry Bjake. I put a manual kit in my old 84 with the 300 in it and a new Carter yf-a 1 barrel. I had no problems with the manual choke kit I bought at my local NAPA dealer. The air cleaner cover is a tight fit but once I put a stud in the carb instead of the hand tightening bolt it went on easy.

Is there an adjustment on the Electric Choke ??? :huh:
My 84 F250 runs like crap when the engine is Cold.
This is AFTER I recently performed a full Tune-UP (plugs/wires/cap/rotor/carb clean/timing).
What else would make it run like crap when the engine is Cold ??
