Carpool lanes

I was talking about this with a co-worker today, and we both agree carpool lanes are the biggest crock. Here's why:

It turns an 8-lane freeway into a 6-lane parking lot. Tree-huggers claim that they encourage people to carpool, but they're clearly not working, because there are so many people in the right three lanes of the 101 in the morning. And why do we want people to carpool? So we can reduce vehicle pollution? I'm sure 6 lanes of 10mph bumper to bumper, stop & start traffic does WONDERS for the air we breathe.

And I've never met anyone who actually uses the carpool lane, other than for incidental, once in a while trips. I've never known anyone to actually carpool. This is largely a blue-collar workforce in the Bay area, and people don't work set hours. I couldn't carpool with anyone, because I don't clock out at the same time everyday. I go home when the work's done.

Well get yourself a large teddy bear or even a blow up doll & fasten them in the passenger seat. You can then use the car pool lane all you want & then make the bee line across 6 lanes of traffic because you nearly missed your exit.

I know your not a idiot so the above statement doesn't apply to you andym. I don't think your that desperate for a date that you have to even buy a blow up doll, me on the otherhand?????

I feel the same way. Expecially with the friggin truck restriction lanes. Trucks use right lanes only.

They are rediculous. How many tractor trailers are just traveling through the city? Don't you think it would be safer to put them in the left lanes away from merging & exiting traffic? Expecially during rush hour when the guy with the blow up doll bee lines across all the other lanes because he nearly missed his exit.
