i have an 85 f 150 with a 300 inline this truck came with no power steering on it and i wanted to know it anyone in here knew how hard it was to intall.
all i would pretty much need is:
power steering gear box
hoses
brackets
and pump right??
if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it. jeremy
Well you'll have to change the steering gear box, install the brackets for the steering pump...connect the hoses, make sure they don't leak. Get the pully for the crankshaft unless its already there and isn't been used, make sure the belt will line up and its the right pully for that engine....lots of work.

It's not really lots of work at all. The pulley for the crank would be the same one, but you'd have to change to a single belt alternator pulley, rather than a dual belt pully. Did the same conversion on my 69 which never ever had a power steering option on it. They had a power assist option, but that was via a hydraulic ram, rather than a gear box. I did my conversion in a weekend, with donor parts from a 79 Bronco...don't see why this truck couldn't be converted the same way, using a p/s box and pump off a similar year truck with that option. Should work off anything from 80-86. For my 81 4x4, apparently the p/s box is the same from 81-92.
