towing package??

I have a 2001 f150 SC and have been trying to determine if it has a towing package or not. It has a wire plug on the rear and the rear bumper has the set up for a ball to be put on but I can not find out for sure exactly what it has. I want to put on a hitch but want to make sure I get it right the first time!
Thanks in advance!

You have a normal Ford bumper. It has holes for a ball........but. Go too heavy and you'll need a new bumper. I bought a Class 3 hitch reciever at a junk yard for fifty bucks. Your 2001's frame comes pre drilled to bolt it right on.
NOTE: if you get it from a junk yard, make sure you get all the mounting hardware with it. You know it will fit if you get one from any F150 between 97 and 2003. Hope this helps

If they dont have all the mounting bolts. then make sure you get grade 8 bolts for strength. If I remember correctly, they are 3/4 heads and nuts with 1/2 dia. shanks on the bolts. You will also need to get a lock washer and a flat fender washer for each set. Also, check with some of your local RV shops. Factory puts in a large, thick flat piece of steel for each bolt. This keeps the bolt head from ripping through the frame. You will need 6 of each item.
