Memory seats in 2000 ED

Is there a way to stop the memory driver seat from going back to what I am guessing is a factory preset everytime the doors are locked? Can you make it stay at setting #1 until you want setting #2 and forget the default setting. Seems like it will wear the seat out always moving around everytime the doors are locked and unlocked. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this topic. Brian

If it's when you use your key fob to lock it, it's doing what it's supposed to do.

One fob is driver "1" the other is "2".

I had a 2000 and that's how it worked.

If you had 3 fobs the third would cover the seat setting stored when you push both "1" and "2" when setting the memory position.

i hope I got that across properly. It's described in the manual (but the third position isn't if I recall)

thanks expybob, I think I get it, but I have 2 key fobs and they both do the same thing, I bought the expy used and strangley enough there was no fobs to be found so the dealer where we traded our 2000 Mountaineer in set our Mountaineer fobs to lock and unlock the expedition, could this be why I am having a problem and if so can I reset the fobs?

When you programmed the fobs, the first one you programmed will do the 1st driver position. The second wiil do position 2.

Now, set the seat where you want it and push "memory" then "1". Then see which fob brings it to that position, this would be fob "1".

Do the same for position "2" and the other fob will bring it to that position.

My position is "1" in my Expy and the wife's is "2".

Or, if you put the seat where you want it and hit "memory" then "1". Then hit "memory" then "2" both fobs will bring it to the same position.

Maybe that's a little clearer.
