While at a local junkyard paying for various items, I noticed them towing in a beat up F150 which what seemed to be a reasonably new diamond plate across the bed rail bed box. I inquired, the check out guy said $50, and that was that. Looked in the cab of that truck, and they bedbox keys were on the keychain hanging off the ignition. Pure luck.
Not that I would have passed this up no matter what style it was, I am glad it's an across the rails type of box, because that leaves about 10" or so below the bottom of the box and the bed floor, allowing space for 4'x8' sheets of gypsum board and plywood, moulding in 8' lengths, etc. Had it reached the floor, I'd either have to take it out everytime I go to home depot, or drive home with the tailgate down, with stuff hanging out a bit.
But I go to home depot extremely often, my wife and I are remodeling our house, room by room so having an 8' bed has been extremely useful.
