I am trying to find someone who can repair rust with bondo within a 50 mile radius of Portland, Maine. I searched the internet and this was the only site I could find where bondo repair was mentioned. I am not able to do the work myself. If you email me privately, I can send a picture of the area that needs repair.
Bondo isn't really a rust repair product, unless you just want to use it to get past a safety inspection, etc. Bondo absorbs moisture, so if you fill a rust hole with it, it will just rust out again in a short time.
Yeah, Bondo can actually do more harm than good. It's a good product when used properly and i've used a plenty of it. But one trick i've learned is whatever you do first find out what caused the rust out. Such as a blocked or no drainage, debris, poor factory inner panel coating etc. and correct it. My door bottoms would still be rot free if the assembly line painter had just put a bit more coating down there in the door bottom and the drainage holes were a bit bigger. Same thing with the wheel arches. And secondly leave no bare metal anywhere. Coat everything hidden with a good rust preventer-not just paint. The best way to repair rust is to put in a metal patch panel. But depending on various factors such as where the rust is, condition of the truck, money, etc. you'll have to make that decision. I've seen rust fixed with Bondo actually rust quicker than spots left alone.
