This may be over a few peoples heads, but for what it's worth...
In creatiing the Tennessee Chapter page(s) I wanted to do something different that I had theorised about but never tried before. I wanted to set up some kind of a multi-tasked map as the centerpiece, without cluttering up the load speed so much that it took so long as to be stupid for it to appear.
I think I have the answer!
I made a slick looking graphic using a topographic map of the area, and then dropped in "City Markers" for reference points.
Okay so far, that's normal graphics junk. But then I image mapped it...
Each city then could be a link to a short page that could be made to appear in whatever frame I wanted it to. And I also made the frames "Lurk" by matching the background colors (I am going to cook up a background graphic this weekend though).
At this point I stumbled onto something I hadn't thought of:
Link points, or "Hotspots" can be multi-directional...
Everything depends on the attribute given to the link itself, which sounds really complicated but it's as simple as this:
"_onmouseover" sends the link one place
"_onmouseclick" sends it to another
"_onrightclick" can go another place
"_ondoubleclick" is one I didn't know about, and goes to another place
"_onmouseout" restores the frame to the original state (IF it needs to) or can go nowhere, or elsewhere too...
So right there, I have not one, but FIVE different things I can display for every single link on the map, and it's in the html so it loads up right away!!!
Links in the other areas of the page can do the same, so the informational density can be far beyond what I first expected, and presented in an entirely new way than anything I have ever done before!
-And it's nothing more than an exercise in "Link Properties"...
To see what I have done so far, follow this link to the Tennessee page:
I am so bummed that you didn't create a "City Marker" for the metropolis known as "Bumpus Mills". I hope you'll correct this glaring error over the weekend
Nah, you won't do it, then the secret would be out and everyone would want to fish there. I spent a lot of time in that area until my Grandpa passed away and even though I inherited quite a bit of property there, I haven't been back.
Hey Wolf,
Shouldn't this post be in the Tennesee Chapter?

My friends say I'm too old to play with toys.
I need new friends
>Why wouldn't you check out the property if the fishing is so
>good?
>Shoot - I'd at least build a cabin or something...
It's a 1400 mile trek and I just haven't gotten around to it
The house is rented out pretty cheap just to have someone on the property. If it comes open anytime soon, you wanna live there? The closest wally world is about a 1 1/2 hour drive, that tells ya how far out in the sticks it is.
