Coasting with E4OD

In 1st, 2nd & OD, the engine RPMs follow the speed down when coasting. In 3rd (direct), the engine drops to idle immediately. Electrical or trans problem?

Automatic trannies are not my strong suite, but I would guess a problem with the coast clutch solenoid or the torque converter clutch solenoid. I would think since it's acting right in three of four gears it's most likely not a hydraulic problem.

My 99 F-350 does the same thing when it wants to. Its not an all the time thing and everything else seems to work fine. Its been doing it for about a year and is still going strong. I have had it to 2 different places and on different scanners and no problems show up. If you ever figure out what it is please post it.
