2 months ago, I had my clutch packs changed. After the second time having the yoke greased, the problem hasn't come back. Now here's the new one. Twice now, while driving slow over rough sections of road I got a slip/clunk out of my rear wheels on acceleration(not from a dead stop). It almost feels like someone hit me in the rear, or the LS is engaging/disengaging. I can't duplicate the problem no matter how I try. It's only happened twice in about 1500 miles and both times under the same conditions. Anyone else have this experience?
I'm taking it in today for the 5th time for the clunk. This is getting old! The dealer will grease the slip yoke and the clunk goes away for about a month or so then it comes right back. Ford needs to find a permanent fix.
Yeah I know about that CLUNK. Mine's gone. Make sure they put a "LIBERAL" amount of grease on the shaft. The last time I had it done was about 2000 miles ago and it's still smooth. This other NOISE/SLIP is different. It's like slipping in mud and all of a sudden catching dry pavement. Maybe it has something to do with the "improved" clutch packs.
I have had it for all 11,000 of my miles. I think I have found the way to duplicate it
Cruise at about... 25. then accelerate kinda hard and let off. As soon as you let off, the RPMs drop, then a second or two later, they drop again.. After the second drop in acceleration, gass it again and it clunks almost everytime.. It does get really annoying. I notice it alot when I am gettin on the highway... I accelerate up/ down the on-ramp, let off the gas to look behind me and in the side mirror, then gas it (sometimes hard) to merge. It usually does it at that point, when I gas it to merge.
Hope this helps, and I know how you feel, its really annoying.
I'll try it, but honestly, i never noticed it when going more than 10 mph. and it only happened on really rough pavement. The truck shifts smooth as glass on the highway. this only started happening after I had the clutch packs replaced. Again it has only happened twice in 8000 mi.
