Question 1960 F250 advice needed

Does anybody know of a disc brake conversion for a `60 F250? I would like to keep it 8 lug if possible. Thanks.

According to the parts book, the axle and spindles are the same on the 250 as the 100. The F100 disc brake conversions generally adapt modern F150/E150 rotors to the stock spindles by replacing the bearings, so they should work for your truck. (see ecihotrodbrakes.com for example)

If you want to keep the 8 lug wheels... I don't know, so I'll speculate that maybe you can get rotors modified to run 8 lugs, or just maybe the F250 rotors happen to fit the same spindles as F150 rotors. I don't have a parts book for newfangled fords.

I'm looking to do the same kind of conversion on my 56 F250. Here is what I have found out. The bolt on disc brake kits only have 5 lug. The 8 lug rotors are larger in diameter and taller so they will not fit the kits. I've thought of changing out the spindles at the king pins but this would require reaming out the axle a bit (about a tenth of an inch on my 56) and figuring out steering linkage

Have you found anything new?

What year did Ford start putting disc brakes on the front of there trucks? Did those truck have a spindle that is close to the 1960 spindle?

Engineering Components Inc has what you need for the 1960. I don't think it is in their catalog yet, but you can call them and they can fix you up.

I put this in another couple threads, but it's easier to find if it's here more than once

Dennis

I found a place in CT that makes two piece adaptors that can convert the number of lug nuts. Has anyone ever thought about this as an option? The minimum thickness it 1.75 inches, but could be more due to the size of the bolt patterns involved. I have an inquiry to them, but probably won't hear from them until Monday at the earliest.

Just thought I would ask the gurus here what they thought.
