97 Ranger Evaporative Emissions Problem
I read the posts on this site quite a bit and it has been I very big help.
However I seem to be stumped with this minor problem.
Every other day my check engine light comes on and stays on for awhile and goes off. I have had the light come on before and got my hands on a scan tool and was able to fix the problem e.g. a camshaft postion sensor and things of that nature.
This time I got a code P1443. I had to do some research and got my hands on some service manuals which led me to the area of the EVAP emissions canister. Does anyone know what component this problem is most likely to be, the purge solenoid, the sensor, or the cansiter itself? I checked all the lines and they seem to be ok. I just don't have the right meter to hook up to the connectors to take readings so I figured I'd give this a shot.
Thanks

It lists some tests to run to further diagnose your problem, but they require the use of a scan tool & DVOM and the tests get rather lengthy. I would just visually check the involved components to get started. You may need to get an Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) for your vehicle (www.helminc.com) to locate the components. Hope that this info at least gets you going in the right direction.
