3 speed overdrive trouble...
i've got an '81 f-100 ranger with a 302 and the infamous overdrive tranny and its near gone, how hard would it be and what mods would i need if i were to swap a c-4 or a c-6 in for the crap of a tranny thats in 'er?

Not hard, just make sure you grab the tranny mounts, probably want the drive-shaft, and all other related linkage parts to do the conversion properly. You may find yourself lengthening a drive-shaft at the worst, but conversions like this are done often. I'd pick on a donor truck with the same engine, and grab all related parts needed to do the job. Better to have more, and sell them later, than lack, and need to go find another donor vehical.

c-4 or c-6?
i dont know much differences in b/t the 2, which would work better, i only use it for a daily driver and do a lil playin on the weekend, hit a few mud puddles ya know, go fishin, stuff like that. preciate the all ya help....

c6 is a whole lot stronger than a c4. not to many trucks out there with the c4. good answer why. c6 with proper service, and a good rebuild will go over 300k. not sure what a c4 would do in a truck. sounds like to much weight for me. no matter though, no tranny will last without good services and proper maintence..
