My ABS light on the dash came on the other day> Gone now> The odd funny noise under the steering column when braking though> Sounds like $$$$$ soon. Any one been there?
thnx jvc
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but this sounds like a panic stop and the ABS light is coming on to let the driver know that skid control is being used.
Yeh thats right. The GM's are having a lot of problems with the ABS module, it runs all the time then burns out. It could be caused by a bad wheel speed sensor. Reads wrong telling the comp its not turning the same speed and will trigger the ABS.
are you sure that it's abs and not brake? cause my brake light comes on occationally.... i still need to figure out y cause i just installed new brake myself!!
yea i made sure to open the bleeders up... and i checked the fluid level after as well.... thats y im not sure whats wrong... and the brakes work fine... the light only comes on when i'f feathering the brakes like through traffic...etc
Same thing happened the other day to my 94 F250 HD 4x4. I made a easy stop on some ice and the rear wheels locked up and the abs light came on for awhile then it went off. It went off and on frequently for a couple of days and now it just stays on. The owners manual says that brakes function fine with the light on, however the anti-skid feature will not work. It also states that a loose or disconnected wire might cause the problem. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet to see if that's all it is.
Will post if I figure it out.
