Stock Bed Caps

Can anyone tell me how to remove the black plastic bed caps off of the bed of a 04 f-150 screw... i know they pull loose on the side near the inside of the bed but they still seem to be connected on the outside. I don't want to pull to hard and crack the plastic so i decided to post the question to see if i can get some insight from someone who has taken theres off before... (reason is for the install of Putco Boss locker rails) JMW

I was wondering the same thing. Also, what is best to replace them with, and what it looks like under them, also wondering if I should have LineX spray over the edge a little instead of using bed caps as I plan to get a Roll Top Cover for it eventually.

I cannot believe they didnt put removable plugs in so that you could put tie downs in. That really blows!

Thanks,

Dave

you have the squeeze the clips under the caps, do it for inside the bed. nothing under there but it has the 2 bigger holes for installing tiedowns.

Thanks

Do these replace easily and tightly if you take them off? In other words, if you replace them, do they become noise makers and vibrate, etc?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I was wondering what to do about the bed caps.

I would like to eventually put Tie Downs in the stake pockets, or bed rails, not sure which. And I am going to get a Line X Spray in, wasnt sure if I should take it over the edge or get some new bedcaps.

Either way, within the next six months I am thinking about installing a Retrax Roll Top bed cover. www.RollTopCover.com i think....

I didnt care much for the way this and other roll top covers sit on the plastic bed rails.

I just cannot decide which is the best way to go. I suppose those bedrails create a lot of holes to patch before you could spray line x over them, which is yet another issue..

LoL
