While reading thru all the post, hopefully trucks problem is this "cmp sensor" everyone talks about. Truck is '02 350 CC 7.3 with 72K. Other day it coughed and stalled for a second, but stayed running. Drove it to dealer under slower steady pedal. If you tried to accelerate it would do the same thing: jerk, cough and stall in the pedal for a second or two. Then off it would go. Dealer replaced "two moduals" that they said from the codes they were bad. Picked it up and rounded the corner and it started doing the same thing. Back to the dealer and it performed for them also, with no codes coming up on machine. They have been driving it for a day and it has not acted up again. They said they were doing everything Ford told them to do. Help, does this sound like this particular sensor that everyone is having problems with?
It starts very good. Never stalls until this 1st time. And what I'm calling stall is when engine is low rpm and no response from accelerater. Just to try and clarify this alittle. Trying to understand this more, because I'm most positive that the shop doesn't.
It almost sounds like an idle validation switch which controls acceleration and the idle of the truck.The "go" pedal is all electronic ( no cables) and there could be a bad spot in the switch. So certain pedal spots the engine sees no response and causes the jerking.
Got it home and it seemed to run fine, plenty of power ... no mishaps. The dealer replaced the ICP and IDM moduals. They have no idea what is wrong, unless they didn't have the harnesses plugged in all the way on the moduals or modual. No codes came up on the machine. We can only hope at this point.
I know electronics are the reason we can get the perfomance and MPGs out of our trucks , but .... Some times I miss the simple days of mechanical diesels .

I agree here on this one. Bad signal from the throttle assembly is what I was thinking too.
