greetings all, I have finally completed another monster 460 bored and stroked it and am now placing it in my 1978 ford f-250. only problem is i just yanked out its 5.8L 351M and am questioning the big block fitting in the 351's place. I know the bellhousing bolts all line up and will work but i am concerned about the motor mount locations I havent put in the engine yet i just took off the bellhousing from the borg warner four speed and placed it up to the engine to make sure it would go. any help of comments will be appreciated ! thankyou
I talked to a friend and he told me that i need a pair of ford fe series like 390 motor mounts, and that i need to located about four old dust shields and that you cut all the guts out of them except the bell housing bolt pattern and use them to shim the tranny away from the engine in order for the bigger 460 clutch pack to fit ?? does this make sense to anyone ?
