Question Infestation

I have a 1979 F150 Supercab. I stored it in a buddies barn and it has since been infested with Black Widows. I am writing this here hoping that some of you might have experience dealing with this. What could I do to get rid of these without damaging the truck? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Thumbs up

Park up north for the winter, freeze them to death and let GOD seprate them. No black widows here in Maryland all year long.

Actually the Southern Black Widow range from southern New England all the way to Florida and west to Oklahoma.
Brian79150, have you tried something like a fogger that is made for home use? Might check into something like that. If all else fails, you may need to try an exterminator.

Call your local car detailer and ask them what would be safe to use. They should have the answers. If not, go to your home improvement center and get something that they will feed on and kill them.

I have lived in Maryland for 43 years and never seen one or anybody I know has ever seen one. The conversion never even comes up. We have many other types of spyders though.

Probably not a good idea in your truck, but out here I take a torch and fry em to nothing.

You may want to cover it with a large tarp, bug bomb it outside. I would worry about two of them surviving and becoming a problem again...in your garage.

I would put it in a closed garage with no open flames(water heater, dryer etc) and close all the garage doors. Open all the doors of the truck including consoles, glove boxes tools boxes etc. Then I would put one or two(depends on size of your garage) of those Raid Foggers in the garage near the truck and let the fog kill everything in your truck and garage.

The fogger I am talking is the expensive one, about $10 for 2 in one box. They do not "spray" insecticide out, they actually smoke. You add a little water to each(Follow instructions carefully) and then the smoke comes pouring out in about 2 minutes and dissipates after about 3+ hours. It will kill everything(including you) in the room or truck. The smoke gets into everything and finds all openings.

I have used it many times and been totally happy. Once I had a rental that was totally roach infested. I used these foggers and the next day there were so many dead roaches out on the floor that we could scoop them up. It gets things that are hiding and forces them out in the open where they die.

Good Stuff, like I said, follow directions exactly.

Or just run the truck in the garage for a few hours

Just kidding, the fogger that Jim mentioned would definitly work well, just make sure you open the hood and doors of the truck to make sure it circulates, which is probably not totally necessary but wouldn't hurt. If your heater is in the garage, I would vacate the house of family and pets just incase it travels through the air ducts. May as well do the whole house and kill everything in there too.

The fogger is a one time deal. Cynoff will last for weeks.

Once they are dead, how long should you keep killing them?
