O.K. this morning I discovered my heater core wanteed to be a sauna core, found this out on my way to work, abot 15 miles with the leak. Got to work added water to cooling system then had to make stops on my way home, at stops I pulled the pressure relaese on the radiator cap to keep from loosing more water due to system pressure. Got my new core, got home, and an hour later R&R'd the heater core, got system filled back up anti-freeze/coolant & water. I am now noticing my Oil Pressure gauge fluctuating. Before oil press was a constant 60psi, now it flutters at 45psi. Could this mean i did damage to the engine, due to the extreme temp, or did I just use up my oil, time to change the oil?
Keep in mind the temp sender is on the return side of the heater core to the cooling system. Also I have after market gauges that give more accurate reading.
Also I am curious, is the heater core an intergurall part of the cooling system or a by-pass in the system?
As alwasy thank for your help, suggestions, and input.
Did you check your oil?? Did it look milky?? Did you actually over heat it?? Are you blowing white smoke?? Check these things to make sure you didnt blow a head gasket from the heat or cracked the block.
