Not charging

I bought a 78 f-150 with a 360 in it and it does not want to charge. I put a volt meter in and just pluged it in to the fuse box behind a fuse is this right or wrong it shows 12 with the ignition on but does not move when the truck is running. I have replaced the altenator, voltage regulator, and a new battery and still no difference. Cleaned the connection on the voltage regulator. Wires all look good anyway to test the wires. Don't know what else to check. Anybody have something else to try I"m lost now

You might have a fusible link burned out in the thick output wire of the alt. Check along it and see if it has one. You could also take the output wire off the alt, and see if it has 12 volts on it.

i just went through the same problem with my 78 bronco.try checking the alt bulb in the gauge cluster.in mine the previous owner had the idiot cluster and tried converting to a full gauge cluster by splicing.not recomended, but back to point.he had patched the alt feed grn/red into my brake light.it kept coming on after i would shut the key off.so i removed the buld and my system wold no longer charge.have you done anything to this effect
