Best Ranger platform
Ok, im in the market to buy a cheap 93-97 Ranger supercab to do a 5.0L swap. My question is, should i go with a Ranger that previously had a 2.3L ,3L or 4L. Are there suspention parts, rear-ends, fuel pump, brakes that are different between these engine combo's. if i could reuse the suspention and other beefier parts off a 4L then i'd be better off to buy a ranger that had a 4L.

Get a 4.0L to have the 8.8" rear axle instead of the 7.5" rear axle. You should be able to use the 4.0L radiator, trans cooler and some other parts for a V8. The front coil springs on a 4.0L are rated better to handle a V8.

Ok thanks, another question. What vehicle should i score the 5.0L out of? I was thinking of a 96 f-150 because it has mass air and would probably be in better condition than a 5.0L out of a mustang. i'd plan on changing the heads to GT40 heads and get a cam and headers anyways.
