I have a 1980 f-100. The trouble is that the starter won't disengage. I have replaced the starter, selinode, cables, and battery. Still the same thing. Someone said it might be the switch. Anyone know if they mean the engnition switch or is their some other switch that I should be looking for. Thank you for your help. Vern
could be your ignition switch is sticking.have you had the colum apart for any reason? If you didnt put the ignition back correctly it wont allow it to return to the run position. If all else false shoot some lube in and around the switch
Pull the #5 wire in the diagram off your starter realy and see if it quits cranking. If it does, it may be an ignition switch problem, but it also may be a ignition module problem. If pulling #5 wire off makes it quit cranking, unplug the ignition module on the fender(2 plugs) and then see if you can plug #5 back up with no problem.
