Have an F600 dump truck with a 361 engine, very low power excessive oil and gas consumption. Would like to upgrade engine. Used for heavy hauling usually 60 miles round trip. Has 5 speed and 2 speed rear axle. What engine will fit as a bolt in if any that could perform better. I have a 460 with bellhousing to mate up to the trans, Just is too big to fit in engine bay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I simply cant find anyone who knows about this series of engines as the 361. Thanks, Andy.

 

as far as a bolt up goes you only have 2 choices.361 or 391.the 391 is the same block.

 

Any one have opinions about the 391? If its not recommended, modifications to fit a better engine is not much of a problem other than time. Any other suggestions for a better engine? Thanks again.
