Testing Turbo
NOW THAT MY TRUCK STARTS I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE TURBO. IS THERE ANY WAY TO TELL IF YOUR TURBO IS BAD? I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A 2002 PSD AND HIS TURBO JUST SIEZED UP ON HIM (it was obvious his was bad). SINCE MINE IS A '97 I WAS WONDERING IF IT COULD BE BAD OR WORN OUT. I HAVE A LARGER EXHAUST THAN STOCK AND A K&N AIR FILTER THAT HAS BEEN ON THE TRUCK FOR 3 YRS. I HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED A DROP IN MY FUEL MILAGE AND THOUGHT THAT THE TURBO MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. ANYWAY THE TRUCK RUNS GOOD NOW. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP. I know of one way to tell. Take off your intake hose that is connected to your turbo. If you grab to turbo wheel inside and try to move it up and down with your fore finger and thumb, it should'nt move. This is my way of telling if the shaft is bad. I don't know if there is any other way to tell. My way might not be mechanically correct, but has worked for me. Good luck hunting!
