Hello everyone. It's been a while since I lasted posted something. Anyhow, here are my question to anyone that can help me out.
First, a little background. I swapped out of my B2 its 2.9L engine, transmission (5 speed), 7.5 rear, and Dana 28 front and I am putting in (from a 91 Explorer) a 4.0L, the 5 speed transmission from the same vehicle, the 8.8 rear, and the Dana 35 front. So my questions are:
Do I need to also swap the computer or can I still use the B2 computer?
Also, what is the difference between an engine with A.I.R. (Air Injector Reactor System) and one without? How can I tell which Engine I have?
Are there any words of wisdom from anyone that has done this before? Any "watch out for..." type of advice? or do I just jump into it and it's pretty straight forward? I have all of my parts rounded up and my buddy and I are going to begin tackling on this on Friday.
Actually, this is what I thought as well, but I am looking to buy a performance engine and use what I have as the core and it lists two engines for the 91 explorer---one with and one without an A.I.R. system. So I am assuming it has this system, but I don't know that the donor truck (the explorer) I have has it. I don't really understand the function of an A.I.R. system. Any thoughts?
