Dump battery charging..

Is it possible to charge my dump trailer battery from the vehicle while my trailer connection is attached. Seems as though it would be easier than having to hook up a battery charger every time it needs charged...Thanks

Yes, if you have the towing package and the 7-wire plug on the back of the truck, you should have a battery charge wire connected to that plug. As long as the truck motor is on, the battery can be charged. It will likely charge alot faster and more completely with a seperate charger though. I use my generator to charge my camper battery when camping and just plug the camper in to 110 volts when it's at home and the camper's converter uses the house current to charge the battery for me.

my work has a bri mar dump trailer and it will get charged from the towing vehicle, but, yes there is a but, the charging wire is a very small guage and it can take a while to charge up fully. if we dump alot, and dump alot of weight it can drain the battery down pretty quick, so we just take it out and throw it the charger overnight. the amount of time varies greatly, depending on drive time, dumping weight, etc.
we do have a problem dumping alot of weight and blowing the inline charging fuse.
