Well today I was talking to the service advisor at our Ford Dealership about my Explorer that has been in the shop since last Thursday. I asked if it was ready yet and the lady said "No, it shows a work order put in for it to go to the body shop" at that point I begen to freak and ask who had wrecked my car and what happen, she put me over to the Service Manager. He told me that no one in the shop had wrecked it but by the looks of the body mounts that it had been. I told him that I have never wrecked it and that when I bought it from them I was told that it had never been in a wreck. He said he knew because he ran a CarFax and it showed nothing either, But he was almost poss. that it had been. So my Explorer is now being sent to the body shop to get a mount fixed to hopefully fix my steering. Now to my Questions, We have had it in the shop about 12 times in almost 2 years(Tranny, Relays, EGR Valve, Power steering pump, A/C Compressor twice, Complete A/C System Change, Rack and pinion setup, EATC Controler, Radio,Ect.) Could all of this be blamed upon the wreck that they said didn't happen? Next, do they or CarFax have any liability? What should I do, Legal action or what?
Thanks and Sorry for the long post I am a bit frustrated.
I beleive that Carfax only knows if anything happen to it if it was reported to the insurance company. You didn't state if you bought it brand new or used. If brand new, you may have some recourse. If used, did you buy it "as is"? Get the report from the dealership of what they found and the Carfax report and go see a attorney. Most of them have the first time visit free. It would be worth checking into.
Well I have an update, kinda. Today I called and it was out of the body shop and put together enough to drive. The service manager himself took it for a ride and said that it still popped just not as bad, well he said now they are gonna change the u-joints and see if that helps. Does anybody know what this could be, when I turn to the right or left(right more often) it makes a popping sound?
Also should I take this as a hint, last time me and the service manager we outside talking waiting for them to bring my car from the back and I said I am thinking about trading it in on a new Explorer, his reply was "That is a good idea and would Prob. be a smart decision" should I take this as a hint (And this was before we know it was wrecked)
Yes, I would take it as a hint to get a rid of it. Me, I would trade it to a dealer ship and let them worry about it. I don't think I could sell it to a private party knowing what it has been through. If I believe correctly, you said that this is where you bought it from, trade it back to them. Ask the service manager who would he choose as a sales person. They seen to know which one might due you a better deal. Good luck with what ever you chose.
Ok, yet another update. Today I called and talked to the service manager again to see if my car was ready, but another excuse "Well it would of been ready on Friday but our allignment machine was broken, and I dont think I can get it in today, so it MIGHT be ready tomorrow but well see" Me and my family are starting to believe that they wrecked it and not before we bought it. What do yall think?
Have you seen the truck since you took it in? Make an excuse that you need to get something out of it. Then you can check it out if they have wrecked it.
I'm a mechanics' nightmare if my truck isn't done within a couple of days.
i know that in British Columbia that if a vehicle being sold from a car lot that has had damage more than $1000 it must be reported to the buyer by law. im not positive on the $1000 maybe something you could check into
Actually last time I talked to the Service Manager he said "I will call you when it is ready." So I guess he was tired of us bothering him everyday. So no call today!!
