ok i have a 1989 ford ranger 4x4 with a 2.3l and a mazada 5speed. recently the clutch master cylinder went bad and i replaced it. but i've still got problems. after i bleed the clutch system several times the clutch still had problems releasing and letting me shift gears, but it was driveable if i needed it. so i bleed the clutch some more and it still doesn't work properly and it seems to have gotten wores. now when i press the clutch pedal it is real stiff and doesn't release the clutch at all because when i start the truck it will roll as the starter is operating and i can press the clutch pedal and the gas at the same time going down the road and the truck will pick up speed. every mechanic i've talked to says the hydrolic clutches are real sensitive and that i've probly still got air in the system. does this sound right or could i also have a problem with the slave cylinder?
thanks
LR
If you are tryin to bleed the master, you will find its easier to:
1. pull the clutch rod free from the pedal
2. remove the starter interlock on the clutch push rod
3. remove the circlip that is retaining the piston in the master
4. pull the cylinder out just a bit to allow the air and a little fluid to come out
5. push the cylinder in a couple of times and repeat #4
6. reinstall the circlip reconnect the rod to the pedal and the starter intelock.
7. pump the clutch a couple of times and then bleed the slave as you started to.
CAUTION BE SURE TO KEEP THE MASTERCYINDER TOPPED OFF DURING ALL OF THIS.
