I have a 1992 F250 7.3 Diesel. My brake line on the front drivers side is leaking...bad. I had my roomate hit the pedel while I watched and fluid is spraying out of the hard line right before a compression fitting. There is a dent on the line where it looks like something crunched it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to fix this myself but I am not sure about bleeding the lines. Do I have to replace the entire line or just cut and add a new shorter line with a new compression fitting? PLease let me know...I have to get to work tomorrow.
First I would say "don't drive the truck!" I would suggest getting the entire line, I am not comfortable with a plice on a break line but someone here may have done it before and disagree. As far as bleeding the lines, it will be easier and quicker than fixing it will be. If you do a search on the web site I know there are threads involving detailed instructions on bleeding.
Thanks for the advice. I went up to the parts store and the new brake line was only 5 bucks! I had to buy a bender and an inline wrench which totaled about $10. I think I am getting off pretty cheap. I took the old line out and it should be a piece of cake to fix. Now all I have to do is get it all on and bleed the lines. Hope they work!.....
Is it the line from maser cylinder or line from left hose to right hose? If it's the line to the M/C,pretty sure you'll have to cut and re-flare line due the fact that that fitting is an oddball size.
