05 sd s/c 5.4 1200 miles i love the truck {3rd super duty}but the streering wheel shakes slight to a lil worst on most lil bumps or large ones . drive on smooth roads very good at all speeds its just seems to vibbates. has many 1 esles notice this????
I had it - went back to dealer (after running truck over weekend) - they checked the balance and 3 of the tires were out of balance from Ford - rebalanced and lower the tire pressure from 80 PSI to 65 PSI - problem now GONE!!!!
I've read on quite a few posts that new trucks were delivered with 80 or so PSI from the factory/dealer. The door sticker on my 2005 F350 FX4 SRW reads front 65 / rear 75. The tires are stamped at 80 (probably for maximum capacity). Mine was delivered with 55 all around, and the ride for 1600 miles has been great, although I do have to correct the steering more than I did with my old '89 F350 flatbed dually. Am I going to prematurely wear them out? Most of my driving is empty. I do tow a 7500# boat, but it doesn't add much weight on the truck.

F250 KR SB 6.0 - my tires also had 55 PSi all around. Pumped up to 65 per the door, then de-aired to 60. Had the tires balanced by dealer and then by a shop that had a new machine. Ride improved after second balancing and setting tire pressure to 60. Still get a shake at around 45 and 75. From my experience with other steel belted tires that went bad, I think there is some belt movement, but it is just not consistent with the shakes to go back to the dealer. But love the handling and new turning radius and the ride is great too unless your at the magic speed. I have read a few post where the carrier bearing was replaced or reshimed. Not sure if I have this issue, but I guess time will tell.
Some were having problems with the Conti tires on the '05s for the first 500 miles or so. A few have hypothesized that these tires in particular seem to get out of round if sitting for too long and take a while to become round again.
Steering Wheel wiggle or bump steer is part of the package with the 05's. It just happens on different road conditions than the left springers. I can go over the nastiest RR track and everything is great, but hit a dropped expansion joint over a bridge and you will need to hold on. I am hoping an aftermarket sterring stabilizer will come out to fix it.
As far as the Contrac tires, I have 2,200 miles on my truck and they still do not act right - guess I will just have to wear them out quick - unless I have a visible defect in the tire, the dealer was not willing to say they were defective. More miles will tell the story, but they are balanced as good as you can get them - wish Centramatic had their 05 balancers out - these worked great on my 02.
