If you're not towing anything, that trip to 'Bama, sounds like a great breakin ride. Just take it down to 45 every once in awhile to make up for the 80 you'll want to drive it at.
Oh yeah, let it wind itself up every once in awhile too, get the rpms up to 3k-3.5k for short periods. Tow afer 500mi.
How did you get my truck? LOL That is one sweeeeet looking truck. I can't wait for mine to come in. Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement.
i remember when i got my new truck, used every excuse to go for a drive. "i need to go to the store, 30 miles away to get, aaahhh milk. yeah thats it."
now that all of you with new 05's have been talking about them i want to trade my 04 in on one. anyone have an extra $10,000 lying around.
I just spent the weekend before Thanksgiving washing and waxing my beloved Beauty . This is were the story gets funny . My wife was going to use the beast on Thanksgiving morning for the early sales at all the local retailers . However we were fortunate enough to be blessed with 8 inches of snow Wednesday . My baby was so nice and clean and shiney in the nice warm garage that I asked that she not take the truck out in all that cold wet snowy salt enfested mess . She replied that if I woke up at 4:00am and go with that she would not take the truck . Guess what ? I was up at 4:00am just so my baby would stay nice and shiney . I must be sick in the head . A nice big 250 Lariet FX4 with heated seats just sitting in the garage on the first snow of the year . Somebody please help me I have fallin in love with my beauty to the point of being insane . The snow was gone by saturday . And the truck looks like showroom . So it is nice having the cleanest truck out on the road now . To bad I didnt have the truck too . There was a chevy that slid off the edge of the road and was stuck up to his axle . That would have been fun pulling him out or pulling off his front end trying .
I just got the word, my baby will be built Dec. 6th 2004. They told me I should have it for X'mas. The only problem is I leave for Bama on the 23rd and they want you to have 500 miles on it before you use it for long trips at steady speeds. Looks like I may have to take a couple of days off work to put some miles on it before I go on vacation I'll have to go drool some more. C U later.

Just think, they are probably gathering the parts to build it right now. I bet you can't wait and your brochure is starting to wear on the edges. I wouldn't worry about the break in, just vary you speeds and don't use the cruise.
You could always stop and show it off at the rest stops. By the time you see the rocket on I-65 you should have 500+ miles, then keep smiling.
Do you plan on undercoating or rustproofing it? I've thought of undercoating my 2004 before it hits any road salt. Anyone undercoated thiers, how much did it cost?
