I could use some help. I have searched the forums and not found similar ploblem. When using light gas pedal pressure I will occasionally get a miss or jerk. There are no trouble codes present. Possibly a COP? Sparkplug? The truck has 187,000 miles on it. It is a 5.4 and the plugs have been changed once but I don't know when. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate them.
Sounds to me you have an ignition problem. Plugs, wires, and coils could all be suspect, but the first two are most likely to take care of your problem, and they are the cheapest. I assume you will replace them yourself. Maybe not so cheap, if a dealer does it. An induction timing light could help you find the missing cylinder, if you can repeat the problem. Attach it to each plug wire, while running. You may notice the miss.
It sounds like when my cop went out but I was unsure till it went to a dead miss. I would check every cop with a digital meter and also stick a good plug in each to make sure its getting blue fire... I know its hard but don't give up
Well I changed 5 of the plugs before I ran out of time. The truck runs like a top now. Ill try to change the other three this weekend. Thanks for the help guys. John
