Well today was work on betty day.. I spent the most part in the garage with 50 degree temps outside working on the beast.. It was well needed.. My main concentration was the Intake.. OMG was that SOB DIRTY! It looked SO freakin nasty I wanted to vomit all over my tools.. Looked like someone let a baby poop in it.. After all that time cleaning it up she ran so much better.. Smooth acceleration, Nice idle, and a noticble Throttle Response..
Also I noticed while thumbing through my engine compartment. I have a power disturbution box on my firewall.. or something of that sort.. I know if I put a wire there it has JUICE! So I got to relocate wires from the battery terminal (about 6 of em).. Now I can close that little plastic cover I got on my POS terminal..
So that was my Amazing day.. I recommend cleaning your intake if you got the time! It was nice..
did you disassemble anything or just squirt from the outside? What did you do exactly?
I took the whole damn intake out.. It took me awhile to figure it out but I took it off the block and sat it down on my work table in my parents garage.. I didnt do that "Buy a can and spray it in the TB".. I actually went through it and cleaned every runner and so fourth.. Almost like doing a Port/Polish job.. Except without the Port and Polish
If your talking about the big plastic piece thats just a cover that protects your Throttle Hookup... I took the entire section that the TB hooks to.. Right off the top of the block..
No dude, my actual entire intake manifold if freakin plastic. I took that stupid ugly throttle cable cover off the day I bought my truck. This is the first intake manifold I ever saw that was made completely out of plastic
I saw in some pictures the intake manifold on the new GTs are plastic. I've actually seen quite a few cars at work with plastic manifolds, but I never pay attention to what cars they are...
I'm talking about the Intake Manifold directly behind the Throttle Body.. Mine is hard and hell and hurts like a SOB when you hit it.. So no plastic there.. How the heck could you have an all Plastic Manifold.. The thing would melt with the Charge Air Temp..
i guess the incoming air is a lot cooler, not hot enought to melt the plastic. You have to wonder though, with engine bay temps and the fact that it sits on the block, how do they do it? Must be some space-age material developed from NASA with materials only found in the rainforest.
Tom, that's not plastic...that's like a coated hard...something...not plastic. Well, maybe it's plastic...I dunno. I know one thing, if it is, it's VERY durable plastic!
