Do E4OD's ever do this?
Truck is a '95 F-150, 351w, E4OD, 3.55 rear. It's fairly new to me. I've put 1000 miles on it and got it with 165,000. The problem does not seem to be getting any worse. Previous owner changed fluid supposedly right before he sold it to me.
When I take off from a stop gently, I get a short hesitation, about a second, and then the motor starts running perfectly and off we go. At the same instant I get good power I get a shake/shudder until I get moving over about 5mph or so. Once the hesitation is done the motor runs perfectly smooth. No EEC-IV codes at all, no blinking transmission light. The TC seems to lock up perfectly as expected at the right times on the highway, no shudder. If I hammer the throttle from a stop, no hesitation, no shudder, runs strong. The harder I step on it the less likely it is to shudder. The transmission fluid doesn't look bright red but it's red with maybe a grayish tinge. I might have seen a couple of tiny spots of black crap in it while checking it once. It does not smell any different than new fluid.
Now, I need to pull a trailer (no more than 3 or 4000 pounds) in a month or two, how worried should I be? I am going to change the fluid and filter again and see what I have in the pan before anyway.
My main question is, is 1st a common thing to lose in an E4OD (I don't think so?)
