Ok, what is this graphite stuff. Went to the autoparts store and they didn't know....but the guy didn't seem to smart. Is it like an aerosol spray or some kinda powder or what? And do you know a brand name???? Would just make it easier to explain to the auto parts guy. Thanks....
Use Lock Ease (tradename/brandname). I have a small aerosol spray can, roughly the size of a can of model spray paint, that I've had for about 15 years. A little goes a long ways. I'm surprised that nobody else knew the tradename for the product; it's been around for years and years.
Just wanted to post an update.....you guys were dead on. Finally got to the parts store and picked up some electrical parts cleaner. Shot some into the lock, and presto! It worked like new. I had to spray it quite a few times to get all the gunk out of it.....there was soooooo much! I couldn't belive it. Now there are big nasty brown spots on the parking lot (luckily there are little drain slits in the bottom of the doors). I have the powdered graphite, but i'm gonna wait till tommorow to put it in, just to make sure it's dry. Thanks to everyone for the help! Tommorow is "change the rear brakes day"
