Ok big question!!!!!!!!!
truck=2002, 5 speed, 2.3liter.
I just read that disconntiong the octane plug can help performance.
Where the "you know" is it I never herd of it. I writer said it makes ""87 octane run like 100"" Ok please help were is it It sounds like it is worth a try.

Probably the reason why you didn't get an answer is there is no such thing. You're probably thinking of the timing plug, and it reduces octane, not increases it, but pulling back the base-line timing. Dealers used to do this if you complained about pinging. Its not available on your Ranger, now dealers simply reflash your PCM.
