Knock, Knock
Hello everyone. I have a new problem. I have a 1999 E-150 Chateau with a 5.4 V8. When I purchased it 3 months ago the engine ran smooth and quiet. Since then I have noticed a loud knock. It is very prominent until I put it into gear and then it is not as noticeable. From what I have read it could be the classic Piston Slap that these motors are known for or it could be a broken or cracked flexplate. Any other things I might check for? The motort runs smooth and very strong. No problems towing a 29 ft Travel trailer either. I have only put about 3000 miles (ready for first oil change) since we bought it. It has 76,000 miles. Great oil pressure.
