Hey guys this is just a quick question to see if any of you can make it a little easier. I have a leak coming in and ending on the drivers side footwell and it made a puddle. I have ruled out the windshield completely. K, theres a rubber thing against the wall where the E brake connects. The insulation behind the rubber thing is soaked. I already took out the plugs in the floor so i know i wont get another puddle, but i am just at a loss now trying to figure out how to get the e brake off to look behind it. any suggestions???
Don't want to have another one of your posts ignored, J/K.
I had a leak that dripped down on the E-brake in my 1989 Ranger. I reached all the way up into the dash and found a seam leaking, some sealer fixed it for about 5-6 years but then the source rusted it out from the outside. I tried putting sealer behind the fender, in the cowl, etc with no luck.
I had the same problem on my '84. I found my leak coming from the rear wheel wheel, that had traveled down the side all the way to my feet. Spent lots of time trying to locate the problem; found it accidently when I was spraying the under side after an afternoon of mudding. There is a body seam in the front part of the rear wheel well. In my case it had finally had enough crud blasting it off the body resulting in wet feet. Unfortunately the carpet had rotted by that time, but Ford had done its job protecting the metal at least. Good luck, man.
you guys wont believe this... i found where the water was coming from. apparently my speaker wire going to the door was hanging out a little more than it should. When the door was closed this wire was caught in between the door and the weather stripping... making a perfect little canal for water to pour in. After tearing apart my dashboard and taking off the little plate on the cowel that the clutch master cylinder attaches to, and tearing up most of the carpet and taking just about everything else off.. it was a freakin speaker wire and all i had to do was push in back so it wouldnt get caught. How retarded huh?!?
