Update to Serp. Problem

Hello everyone!

I made an interesting discovery regarding my serpentine belt problem. I had bypassed the AC pump with a smaller belt until I could afford the new pump. The smaller belt kept breaking.
Well upon closer inspection, I learned (meat head) that you cant do this. Over the top of the fan pulley, the belt rubs on itself going in opposite directions.
Well, I know it was probibly known by most of you, but it was a learning experience for me. So, now she sits until the new AC pump gets put on.
One question, can the AC pump be put on without it actually being hooked up, just so the darn truck can run?
Thanks again for everyones help.

i believe summit or something like that carries a pulley in replacement of the AC. It's just a simple bracket with a pulley on it!....bolt-on

if you pull the plug on the compressor it will never engage the clutch so it will work just the same. Just like a free spinning pulley.

yes, the guys on here are absolutely amazing. I cannot tell you how many times I have posted a question and gotten inundated with responses. Somebody somewhere on the site usualy knows the answer IMMEDIATELY as so many are very attentive to the postings. Saved me SO much money especially with fixing all of the "little" things.

My Bronco never had AC there is just a bracket w/ a pulley as stated above. I would imagine you could source one from Ford although I doubt that would be cost effective.
