I have a 95 Ranger with a Factory Cassette Player. I am interested in putting a factory Cd player in it. Will any plug up without any modifications? What vehicle could I get it out of?
It is just a matter of pulling your deck with special keys you have to buy from ford, plug in the harness to the CD player and push the deck into the hole where it will snap into place. I believe it was '97 or '98 when ford changed most of their vehicles to 2DIN size recievers, so you would need a deck made in 96 or older from any ford truck and most ford cars. The wiring is the same on just about any car stereo. I will tell you now those decks are junk and they look like dinosaurs from 1980.
Weigh the cost of this project vs. less than $160 for a decent CD player, wiring harness, and mounting harness.
And don't forget to disconnect your battery ground before any electrical work is done...
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Aug-02 AT 11:30 PM (EST)]I would just goto bestbuy next time they run a free install sale.
you pay them like 15bucks for a harness and 3 for shop fee.
+whatever radio you want. Nowadays you can get a decent cd player for 100 bucks.(if you are gonna get a more expensive one replace all your speakers too cuz factory speakers blow)
Rand
NOTE if you are gonna replace the speakers I would do it myself cuz bestbuy rapes ya on speaker install and its HORRIBLY EASY.. like 30 bucks for 5 min of work ya know.
