midtronics battery tester
my boss purchased 2 of these testers for 25 techs, we test about 500 cars a month, and it hasnt broken yet...keyword yet...someone will drop it,run over it, or slam a hood down on it one of these days...ouch!

The Midtronics tester is what Ford sent to all it's dealers a couple years ago.
We have to use them for any warranty claims. They generate a code that is used on the claim.
It generally seems to work well but sometimes I wonder how accurate it is. Today I had a battery that didn't hold a charge very long. The Midtronics said it was ok. The Snap On AVR (carbon pile tester) failed it.

I think they became popular as a quick means of testing a battery.
