Does anyone know where I can get a driveshaft shortened close to Fort Hood? The place I went to in Killeen before I spent a year and a half in Korea seems to have shut down. I have no problem going to Belton or Temple. I really do not want to go to Waco or Austin but will if I have to. I appreciate any input cause I want to get the Bronco rolling again.
I should have the Dana 50 installed up front in a couple of weeks. Just a matter of removing the brackets from the 90 F250HD front frame section and installing them on the Bronco. (Before anyone flames me for not putting a 60 in, try finding on in Texas for under two grand.) I already have the 35" BFG Mud Terrains mounted up on aluminum wheels. Sure would be easier if I wasn't still on crutches. (They laugh at me trying to get through the mud at Harold's Junkyard.)
i use inland truck parts in Dallas. there used to be a place in Gatesville on the main drag but i don't remember the name. it was down from the all you could eat restauraunt.
Broke bronco. I live in Waco. I can see if there is a shop here, but I have another idea for you. I went from a 390 and 4 speed in my truck to a 460 and c6. When I did the swap, my drive shaft wouldn't fit either. I took the yoke from the tranny and slid it all the way in, then back out about 1/2 to 5/8 of an inch. I measured from that yoke to the rear end yoke. Then went to the wrecking yard and measured shafts til I found the right length. I installed new U joints and bolted her in. I paid 20 bucks for the shaft. I don't think you can have one cut down for that much. See if that will work for you, if not I'll see if any of my friends know of a shop between me and you.
Not too much. I had a 71 3/4" straight shaft done with both yokes and joints for only $189.00. It took them about 4 hrs to turn it around for me.
Your cost goes down if you bring in the shaft and yoke. They charge more labor to R&R on the truck.
