Just got my Excursion!!!!
picked it up yesterday from a dealership in Duluth, GA - has a nice 500 mile drive home to Orlando, FL for its maiden voyage
2002, limited, powerstroke, 2wd
took me a while to find it but it is exactly what i was looking for and more - got 18.8 mpg going 70-75 mph on the way home so that is great so far
I will be using it to tow my Honda Civic Drag Car around the country for the 2005 season so it will be put to good use
i have been trolling on here for a while and have a good base of knowledge of the truck but let me know if there is any other tips you may have - got this so far
- diesel kleen here and there helps out
- spare cam angle sensor in the glove box
- maintenance, maintenance, maintenance
for a quick question - when braking it seems as if the brake rotors are warped pretty bad but a friend of mine with a f250 said it could be the wheel bearings - any experience with this problem? at times the steering wheel shakes pretty darn bad on braking - i have to take the truck to my local ford dealer to have it fixed and the dealer i bought the truck from gave me a 'we owe' on it to pay for whatever it costs
looking forward to becoming more involved here

Congrats !!!
Brake rotors warping happens WAY too much as far as I am concerned....
Most tend to think it's from tire changers using an impact wrench and torqueing the lug nuts more than the 145 to 155 lbft they should be at....
and since you have to rotate the tires every 5K, it is easily done....
If you can't get them done under warranty... look into ART slotted rotors...
All reports are they are the way to go....
AND....
look into a rear helwig sway bar to tighten up the turns in that 4x2... Well Worth it....
OBTW...
it may be too late, but take the roof rack crossbars off...
they wear thru the paint from the constant vibration....
and get a tuner for more get up and go !!!!

Are you running any particular series ? NHRA, IDRC, NOPI ??
