Hey How's everybody my first post been looking around the site seems to be a lot of good plp hear. Hears my question I have a 1996 F-250 with a 351 engine that I use as a work truck I pull a small enclosed trailer (7x12) everyday I am getting about 10 to 11 mpg maybe a little more if I keep my foot out of it I have been looking for a chip made for towing and nothing I have seen really seems to be what I am looking for. Any suggestion would be helpfull
I had a 96 Bronco with the same 351 in it and the Jet chip I tried did nothing but remove my money I think. Not sure what else is out there, but I would not get another Jet.
i have considered chip'n my V10 many times and still have not... i would like to be able to hold overdrive and 3rd gear (AUTO) longer when pulling up hills with Trailer... this is where id want to see improvement.. however from what ive read most people dont see a differnce.. what many offer is the ablity to adjust shift firmness and make spedometer corrections, two options im not interested in.... anyway If you could prove they made power then you have to ask how... they advance timing, causing the fuel/air mix to be ignited before you piston is top dead center so that there is much more compression going on, as your piston is compressing expanding gas, this requires 91 octane to control(more money) and puts allot of stress on your rods/bearings and main crank... ive been told running advanced timing at this degree will decrease engine life by up to 25%....... I would still accept all those downfalls if i could see my truck hold overdrive and third gear longer up steep grades, but so far from what ive read the V10(i know thats not what you have.. just in my case...), well the V10 doesnt seem to benefit too much.
